The price increase that keeps the client

What you end up with: the increase email in two tones, a pressure-tested version, and the replies for the pushback. 

The scenario:

Price increases feel like the moment a client starts shopping around. They do not have to be. 

A good increase email gives notice, ties the rise to value the client has felt, and leaves no room for a back-and-forth. Tone is everything.

STEP 1 - Write the increase email

You are writing a price increase email from a managed service provider to a long-standing client.

Works in any AI tool.

Context:

  • Client: [name, how long with us, what they pay]

  • The increase: [X percent], effective [date]

  • Value delivered this year: [wins, incidents handled]

Build:

  • A warm, confident, short email

  • Notice and the new figure stated clearly

  • The reason for the rise in one plain sentence

  • The value they have felt over the past year

Do not apologize and do not invite negotiation. Give me two versions: one for a client who rarely complains, one for a client who pushes back on everything.

STEP 2 - Pressure test it

Paste the version you would send. 

Tell me: 

- The single weakest line and why it invites a fight 

- The objection this wording most likely triggers 

- The one change that makes it harder to argue with 

Then rewrite it with that change made.

STEP 3 - Handle the replies

They pushed back. Give me replies to the three most likely objections: 

- It is too much 

- We will look elsewhere 

- Will you hold the old rate 

For each, hold the line, keep the relationship warm, and offer one option that does not erode the increase.
