Your change management process has a gap
Every MSP has a change management process. Most of them approve changes without asking the right questions.
The last outage you dealt with probably came from a change that was reviewed, approved, and executed exactly as planned. The problem wasn’t the execution. It was what nobody thought to check.
The scenario:
You want to improve your change management process to catch the risks that current reviews miss.
The prompt:
You’re redesigning your change approval checklist.
Current process: [paste your existing change management workflow]
Build an improved checklist that includes:
Impact assessment (which clients, which services, what’s the blast radius)
Rollback plan with specific steps and time estimate
Dependency check (what else touches this system)
Communication plan (who needs to know, before and after)
Post-change verification steps
Keep it to one page. If it’s longer, nobody will use it.
