The Q4 freeze that protects you and terrifies the team

You put a change freeze in place for the holiday period because fewer people are around to catch a problem if one happens. Your team quietly worries anyway. Left unexplained, "no changes" reads as a vote of no confidence in the team, not the safety measure it is.

Revisit the exception process once the freeze ends. The requests that came through as genuine emergencies, and the ones that turned out not to be, tell you whether next year's freeze needs to be stricter or more flexible. A freeze nobody asks an exception to is either working perfectly, or nobody trusts it enough to ask.

The prompt:

You are building a change freeze policy people actually understand. \

Context: [your current freeze dates, and what exceptions, if any, exist for genuine emergencies]

Build:

  • A short internal message explaining what the freeze protects the team from, not only what it restricts

  • An emergency exception process so nobody is left guessing whether a real problem still gets fixed
