The positioning line that is not "IT support"
Read your LinkedIn headline, your website hero and your email signature. If they say "managed IT support for growing businesses", you have described the category, not your business. A prospect comparing three MSPs reads three identical lines and picks on price, because price is the only difference you've given them.
The fix is not clever wording. It is naming who you serve best and the problem you solve for them that the generalist down the road does not. That answer is already in your client list, in the clients who stay longest and refer most.
Gather first: your ten longest-standing clients and what you fixed for them early on.
The prompt:
Our LinkedIn headline, website and email signature all say some version of "managed IT support." I want a positioning line that tells the right prospect, in one sentence, why we are the obvious choice for them.
What experienced MSP marketers know:
The answer is usually already in the client list. The clients who stay longest and refer most tend to share an industry, a size, a compliance pressure or a problem we solved early.
A strong line names who it is for and the outcome they get. A line that would fit any competitor's site is not positioning.
Narrowing the line rarely loses work, because general referrals still arrive. It makes the right prospect stop scrolling.

Do this:
Identify what our best clients have in common that the rest do not, with the evidence for each pattern.
Write five one-sentence positioning lines, each naming a client type and an outcome. Do not use "IT support," "solutions," "partner" or "peace of mind."
For the two strongest lines, explain who they would attract, who they might put off and a simple way to test them on three client calls this month.
If the client data shows no clear pattern, say so and tell me what extra information would reveal one.
